Stephens verbally commits to U of D - Mercy!
Destiny (Desi) Stephens has
been my protégé for over two years now. I met Desi as she was
entering her 8th grade season at Grand Blanc West Middle School.
We quickly formed a close bond on the court and off. Her desire
to be the best she could be was evident from day one. Now, two
and a half years later, she is reaping the rewards of many
hours, training, practicing and playing the game of basketball.
Her verbal commitment to the University of Detroit-Mercy shows
just how far she has come in such a short time. It is almost
unheard of for a NCAA Division 1 school to offer a sophomore
(who hasn't played a game yet this year) a full ride
scholarship. On Friday, October 16th, she gave the nod to accept
the offer.
Desi can now focus on training, playing and the mental aspects
of playing big time basketball. She will undoubtedly have a
great high school career, as she looks forward to a great
collegiate career as well. Congrats Desi, the hard work up to
this point has all been worth it. God bless you girl. I love you
like my own daughters.
